The 4S-CO electrochemical carbon monoxide gas sensor operates on electrochemical principles. It utilizes the electrochemical oxidation of the target gas at the working electrode within an electrolytic cell. The current generated by this electrochemical reaction is directly proportional to the concentration of the target gas—in accordance with Faraday's Law—allowing the gas concentration to be determined by measuring the magnitude of the current.
